Dear Vernon,
COL. OFFIC
I have received your letters of the 7th and 8th July
enclosing correspondence and a draft telegram on the
subject of proposed agreements as to wireless at Hong Kong.
In this Office we have not, I think, seen the draft
I gather however that there is
supplementary agreement.
no prospect that this agreement can be concluded in its
present form.
Moreover in view of the terms of the telegram from
Hong Kong of the 7th July, it seems doubtful whether the
arrangement suggested in your draft telegram for a fresh
form of supplementary agreement would be acceptable to
the local authorities.
The position has become extremely difficult. Possibly
the best arrangement would be to see the Company's repre-
sentative again; to inform him of the contents of the
telegram of the 7th July; and to ask his views on the
0.A.G's proposals.
The Company will no doubt object
strongly
